Ronan Keating
Contact Linda Barrett, EFL Music Web Site

The site and activities are recommended for young adults, grades 11 & 12, age 16 and up.
This site is particularly appealing to teenagers and teachers can warm them up by asking about what kind of music, singers or bands they like.

The Ronan Keating site is based on Ronan Keating's album Ronan.

To get the most out of the site it is advisable for the school to invest in this album. This enables the students to practise their listening skills by listening and gap filling. However, the site can be used without the album for teaching vocabulary and grammar and for practising reading skills.

How to use the site:

  1. Practising listening - selecting a song from the CD/cassette and playing this (up to 3 times)while students listen and fill in the gaps. Students check own answers by clicking on "answers".
  2. Broadening vocabulary - by use of the "vocabulary quiz" attached to the song selected earlier. With some songs there is a fun "find the mistakes" page.
  3. Reading Practice - from the "About Ronan" page or grammar practice from this page. Some songs also have grammar exercises attached to them.

Preparation

If computers are used students need to be instructed on how to complete activities and how to move from page to page. This is quite straightforward and there is an "instructions" page.
If computers are not available all pages can be printed off and used in the classroom. Students then simply need instructions on how to complete the activities.
